# Illusory Loopy Candelabras The Equilibrio Candlestick Balances Impossibly on its Curled Form By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-12-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/equilibrio-candlestick References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Equilibrio/2908609) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Equilibrio/2908609) In addition to bringing intimate lighting to the dining table, the Equilibrio Candlestick delivers as exquisite decoration and a teasing [trompe d'oeil](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-collection). Manufactured from a slender rod of burnished stainless steel, the piece somehow sits passively on a flat and level surface without rocking back and forth. Spacing between the two outwardly spiraling sides of the contraption give it added stability, as does a subtle flattening of the base. The ends of the branches rise perpendicular to the tabletop so that the [waxy illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-mater) stick straight up. To add another dimension to the Equilibrio Candlestick, designer Julien Bergignat suggests another version with a [pair of the candleholders intertwined](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woaw-collection-by-nader-gamma). The balancing act is less impressive but the elaborate arrangement is alluring. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Interactive Candelabras:** Creating candelabras that incorporate interactive elements could provide a unique and engaging experience for consumers. - **Optical Illusion Decor:** Developing decorative items that play with optical illusions can add a touch of intrigue and creativity to homes and spaces. - **Multi-functional Candle Holders:** Designing candle holders that serve multiple purposes, such as combining them with other objects or functions, can offer innovative and versatile options for consumers. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore incorporating interactive and optical illusion elements into their products to create unique and captivating designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize optical illusion decor pieces like the Equilibrio Candlestick to enhance the visual appeal and ambiance of spaces. - **Gifts and Souvenirs:** The gifts and souvenirs industry can consider offering multi-functional candle holders as unique and practical items that can be given as presents or keepsakes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interestingly Shaped Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poise-candle-holder.md) - [Warm Ambient Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflet.md) - [Architectural Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/core-candle-holder.md) - [Stone Cube Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qub-candlestick.md) - [Kinetic Insect Sculpture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dragonfly-balance-light.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Stacked Candle Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candl-stacks.md) - [Dynamic Bookend Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stair-table.md) - [Hovering Illusion Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stilk.md)
