# Skeletal Smoketography The Ephemeral Collection Will Definitely Fog Your Perception By Alex Scott | Published 2010-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ephemeral-collection References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Gallery/Ephemeral/494655) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/maclochlainn) The Ephemeral collection is another example of that [shapeless, ambiguous art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow) that I could just stare at for hours, not too try and decipher the meaning of course, but to just be entranced by its smoky imagery. Several of these look like actual x-Ray shots from a clinic. A few look as if they could be fractured bones while several others look like [human anatomy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/out-of-orifice). Created by Robert McLaughlin, the Ephemeral collection may actually just be one big [Rorschach test](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble). If that is the case, my results are telling me I'm probably watching way too much House. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Smoky Imagery:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new ways to use smoky imagery for marketing and advertising purposes. - **Shapeless Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unconventional mediums and techniques to create shapeless art forms. - **Ambiguous Interpretation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Build platforms or tools that facilitate collaborative interpretation and discussion of ambiguous art pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate technology and digital platforms to enhance the creation, curation, and exhibition of art. - **Advertising:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop immersive advertising campaigns that utilize smoky imagery to captivate and engage consumers. - **Healthcare:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize smoky imagery and shapeless art forms for medical imaging and diagnostic purposes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Medicine-Inspired Artful Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/something-for-the-pain.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Collaborative Sculptural Art Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neojomon-biomorphic-fantme.md) - [Ethereal Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peter-kovacsy.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md)
