# Single-Level Tiny Homes The English Garden House Delivers Apartment-Sized Living in New Zealand By Amy Duong | Published 2026-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/english-garden References: [southbasehomes](https://www.southbasehomes.com/) The English Garden tiny house is a permanent dwelling in New Zealand designed and built by [South Base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/south-food-courts) Tiny Homes to provide a full residential experience within a compact footprint. Unlike many tiny houses that rely on [lofted sleeping or vertical circulation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/currumbin), the layout is organized entirely on [one level](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craft-house-justine). The plan places the kitchen, living, dining, bedroom, and bathroom along a linear arrangement that supports clear sightlines and everyday functionality similar to a small apartment. Natural light enters through carefully positioned windows that illuminate timber-lined interiors and visually extend the space. The kitchen includes full-sized appliances, generous cabinetry, and a farmhouse-style sink suited to daily use. The bedroom is fully enclosed and connects to a standard bathroom with a glass shower and conventional fixtures. Built-in storage is integrated throughout the interior to reduce clutter without reducing floor area.
