# Cute Coffee Table Seating The Emma Chair by Kieser Spath Combines Cozy Seat and Surface By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emma-chair-by-kieser-spath References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/40861/) & [kieserspath.de](http://kieserspath.de/emma_en.html) It's often useless to present a seat with nowhere to set a drink, and likewise, the offering of a surface is of little help when there's nothing on which to sit. The Emma Chair by Kieser Spath, however, embodies both [table and chair in one](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pony) petite package. The piece is essentially the merging of two different components as well, rather than one cohesive hybrid. The [wooden coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) alone looks much like a bench or an elongated stool, while the soft sitting constituent is a [cushioned L-shaped seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/press-armchair). Place off-center, the perch provides more of an exposed surface to permit the placement of books, drinking glasses, or even a lamp. The Emma Chair by Kieser Spath would be a delightful addition to your domestic space, however I'd really love to see these clustered within public waiting rooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multifunctional Furniture:** The merging of two different components in the Emma Chair presents an opportunity for creating more multifunctional furniture pieces. - **Space-saving Solutions:** The compact design of the Emma Chair opens up possibilities for creating space-saving furniture solutions in small living areas. - **Integration of Comfort and Functionality:** The combination of a cushioned seat and a table surface in the Emma Chair showcases the potential for integrating comfort and functionality in furniture designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The concept of the Emma Chair offers opportunities for innovation in the furniture manufacturing industry by creating unique and practical furniture designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore the use of multifunctional furniture like the Emma Chair to optimize space and enhance the aesthetic appeal of their designs. - **Hospitality:** The Emma Chair's compact and versatile design makes it a potential disruptive innovation in the hospitality industry, offering comfortable seating options with functional surfaces for guests. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Espresso Maker-Inspired Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moka-chair.md) - [Bent Multi-Functional Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shell-table.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Bookshelf-Incorporated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/overlap-table.md) - [Storage-Attached Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md) - [Quirky Postmodern Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ebba-armchair.md)
