# Snarky Safety-Tweeting Apps The IAmAliveVIP Emergency Notification App Tweets After Bombings By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-02-12 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emergency-notification-app References: [techland.time](http://techland.time.com/2014/02/12/worlds-most-depressing-app-launches-in-lebanon/) & [play.google](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hassan.sandra.iamalivevip&hl=en) The 'IAmAliveVIP' emergency notification app for Android devices is one that makes quite a political statement about the frequency of bombings in Lebanon. The app by Sandra Hassan enables users to send out fast auto-tweets in the case of emergency, such as messages like "I am still alive! #Lebanon #Latestbombing." Over 4,000 users have reportedly downloaded the app since it was made available on January 21st and it's a lot of action during two bombings since then. While the app is useful, its political message is also quite apparent. The app snidely describes that: "every time there is an explosion, we have to spend a lot of time contacting our loved ones…Not anymore!" The app has got people in other regions affected by bombings asking Hassan to create versions for their local areas as well. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Emergency Notification Apps:** Opportunity for developing apps that provide fast auto-tweets in the case of emergencies, addressing the need for quick and efficient communication during crisis situations. - **Political Statement Apps:** Potential for creating apps that make political statements by leveraging technology to draw attention to social issues and events. - **Localized Emergency Apps:** Demand for region-specific emergency notification apps in areas affected by bombings and similar incidents. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Mobile App Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the mobile app development industry to create innovative and useful emergency notification apps. - **Social Media Platforms:** Opportunity for social media platforms to integrate emergency notification features and functionality to facilitate rapid information dissemination during crises. - **Humanitarian Technology:** Innovation opportunities in the humanitarian technology industry to develop localized emergency apps that aid in communication and safety during emergencies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Women’s Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/im-safe.md) - [Personal Safety Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/citizen-app.md) - [Location-Based Social App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-home-safe.md) - [Emergency Distress Signals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sos-light-app.md) - [Personalized Emergency Response Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personalized-emergency-response-app.md) - [Emergency Alert Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protechme.md) - [Seismic Alert Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quakesense.md) - [Ambient Safety Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hafi.md) - [Anti-Stalking App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tile.md)
