# Exigency Seating Systems The Emergency Bench Can Be Blown Up in Seconds for Desperate Sitters By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emergency-bench References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/52665/) & [jamiewolfond](http://jamiewolfond.com/_/EMERGENCY.html) It is advisable not to call 911 in the instance of an insufficient seating crisis, but such a situation could be serious if there are weary soles present in great numbers. The Emergency Bench was designed to provide an additional place for people to perch, should a venue be ill-equipped for the crowd. Made from nylon, vinyl and hypalon, the supplementary chair can be [inflated in a matter of seconds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/johannes-faurebrac), given a fairly powerful air pump. It takes a long cylindrical shape and, with it's bright orange color, it undoubtedly resembles a marine buoy turned on its side. Jamie Wolfond's Emergency Bench comes with a durable strap and a pair of yellow [aluminum legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldseat) each. Once blown up, the furnishing sits steady and accommodates up to three people. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Emergency Seating Solutions:** Create customizable and unique emergency seating solutions for different industries that are easy to inflate and deploy. - **Inflatable Furniture:** Develop a line of inflatable furniture for events and venues that can be easily stored and quickly deployed for emergency seating needs. - **Temporary Emergency Structures:** Design temporary emergency structures that can be quickly set up to provide seating and shelter for people during crises. ### Who This Affects Most - **Events Industry:** Develop inflatable seating solutions for events of all sizes to quickly provide seating for attendees. - **Hospitality Industry:** Create inflatable furniture for hotel lobbies and other guest areas to provide additional seating for guests during busy times. - **Emergency Response Industry:** Partner with emergency response teams to provide lightweight and easily-deployable seating and shelter options for those affected by disasters. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automatic Self-Inflating Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfinflating-furniture.md) - [Ergonomic Inflatable Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/z-lounger.md) - [Inflatable Molded Collective Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/situation.md) - [Collapsible Posture Support Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-portable-seat.md) - [Automated Inflation Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerogogo-ps1.md) - [Recycled Dynamic Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bultan-chair.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Expanding Three-in-One Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expandy.md) - [Inflatable Campsite Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bote-aero-couch.md)
