# Swirling Light Sculptures Emergence by Cinimod Studio is Inspired by a School of Fish By Meghan Young | Published 2014-06-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emergence-by-cinimod-studio References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/3031215/terminal-velocity/a-mesmerizing-light-sculpture-modeled-after-schools-of-fish) & [cinimodstudio](http://cinimodstudio.com/) It is only appropriate that Emergence by Cinimod Studio, a design firm based in London, United Kingdom, would be inspired by a school of fish. It is a [light sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome) that has been commissioned by [Caviar House & Prunier](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caviar-kaspia), after all. The luxury restaurant, which is located in Heathrow airport, spirals 43 feet up towards the ceiling in a stunningly graceful way. Made up of 350,000 LEDs, Emergence by Cinimod Studio has been choreographed "to dance with the simulated physics of a school of fish swimming in the ocean," according to [Fast Co. Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-outdoor-furniture). Its look varies with every second. Sometimes it is lit in a frenzy of lights as the entire school is imagined together while in other moments only a lonely fish can be seen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Light Installations:** Design firms can create interactive light installations that mimic natural movements to enhance the visual appeal of spaces like restaurants. - **Dynamic LED Lighting:** LED technology can be applied to create dynamic lighting systems that can create different moods and experiences for the guests. - **Immersive Art Experiences:** Incorporating art installations that create immersive experiences for guests can set venues apart from their competitors and offer a novel attraction for customers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Luxury restaurants and hotels can enhance their decor and customer experience by incorporating dynamic light installations like Emergence by Cinimod Studio. - **Art and Design:** Art and design firms can offer their services to create immersive light installations for commercial and public spaces. - **Urban Planning:** Urban planners can incorporate public art initiatives by collaborating with designers and artists to create public spaces that offer unique, immersive experiences to visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md) - [Intricate Lighting Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest1.md) - [Suspended Lighting Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-lighting-installation.md) - [Stunningly Intricate Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Rippling Aquatic Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pulse-lights.md) - [Sculptural Acoustic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/echoes-of-the-deep.md) - [Revolving Bright Kinetic Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light.md)
