# Drum-Like Lighting The Embrace Collection by Maksim Shniak is Decoratively Cylindrical By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/embrace-collection References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2014/02/embrace-series-of-decorative-lamps-by-maksim-shniak-and-hobbywood/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Shniak) At first glance, the Embrace Collection looks as though it were made up of instruments confiscated from a drum circle. From long and cylindrical to squat and circular, each piece looks as though it were the framework of drums. Yet the [pendant lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp) in the Embrace Collection were kept hollow in order to better emit light through its 'shutters.' Designed by Maksim Shniak for Hobbywood, the Embrace Collection is made out of [flat pieces of birch plywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-green-works). Made out of bowtie-like wooden silhouettes, each light has a [decorative feel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chant) that brings a nice touch to living spaces. The Embrace Collection is meant to be assembled by the owner. In this way, they are shipped environmentally consciously to reduce any unnecessary packaging. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Drum-like Lighting:** Create lighting fixtures that resemble drums for a unique and decorative touch in living spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting Design:** Incorporate drum-like lighting fixtures in interior design projects to create a visually interesting and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Bar-Like Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/empyrean.md) - [Orchestral-Themed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/symphony-collection.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Organic Cloud-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/khmara.md) - [Sustainable Cylindrical Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackabl-lighting-collection.md) - [Circular Hollow Timeless Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-collection.md) - [Concentric Geometric Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caleide.md) - [Experimental Ancestral Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawabi.md) - [Twisting Timber Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-lasercut-wooden-lampshade.md)
