# Intricate Papercut Art These Elsa Mora Paper Craft Masterpieces Are Stunning and Complex By Matt Ho | Published 2010-12-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elsa-mora-paper-craft References: [elsita.typepad](http://elsita.typepad.com/photos/paper_sculptures/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/59008788/print-from-one-of-my-original-papercuts?ref=em) I’m blown away by Los Angeles-based artist Elsa Mora’s [paper sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves) because of the intricacies and detail she puts into her work. Each piece has been painstakingly cut out with a utility knife, which gives Mora's work a busy and complex, yet beautiful appearance. What's particularly striking is that there's often an image within an image, which seems to indicate that there's a story being told. Luckily, these aren't just for your viewing pleasure: Mora's [paper craft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-papirkunst) is available for sale on [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Intricate Papercut Art:** Opportunity for artists to explore the use of papercutting techniques to create stunning and complex artworks. - **Detailed Paper Sculptures:** Potential for creating intricate paper sculptures with utility knives, allowing for a busy and complex yet beautiful aesthetic. - **Storytelling Through Papercraft:** Innovative opportunity to use papercraft to tell visual stories with images within images. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Artists can leverage papercutting techniques to create unique and intricate sculptures and artworks. - **Craft and Hobby:** Potential for selling papercraft creations and supplies on platforms like Etsy. - **Visual Storytelling:** Opportunity to use papercraft to create visually captivating narratives in the fields of advertising, animation, and film production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Intricate Jigsaw Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intricate-jigsaw-puzzle.md) - [Origami-Inspired Porcelain Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saori-matsushita.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [3D-Printed Paper Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-knives.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md) - [Intersecting Dimensional Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diorama.md)
