Manuela Frey stars in 'New Shapes,' an editorial featured in the Elle UK March issue.
The editorial's title may very well refer to Frey's hair. The stylist on-site, Ward Stegerhoek, experimented with different variations of the classic ponytail and bun. For instance, he gathered Frey's dirty-blond into a high ponytail, which he then twisted around to face the front, giving Frey a slightly peacock-ish appearance. He did the same with the bun, bringing it forward and to the side so that the traditional 'do was slightly off-kilter.
Of course, the title could also be referring to the androgynous fashion hand-picked by editor Joanne Blades. Whether she chose long robes or slouchy leather trousers, it's clear that Blades, much like Stegerhoek, was experimenting with "new shapes."
