# Functional Ceramic Dogs Designer Eleonor Bostrom Creates Part Sculpture, Part House Ware Objects By Meghan Young | Published 2013-08-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eleonor-bostrom References: [itsnicethat](http://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/art-eleonor-bostrom) & [eleonorbostrom.se](http://eleonorbostrom.se/) It would be understandable if the work of Eleonor Bostrom was mistaken for decorative sculptures rather than house wares. Cute and quirky, her line of [dog-inspired objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) has a quirky appeal that will also make people thing of children's school projects. Yet most of Eleonor Bostrom's objects serve a larger purpose than simply prettying up a corner of a room. For instance, Eleonor Bostrom makes one dog eject toothpicks from its tail while another acts as a [cute pin cushion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-dog). Of course, some of her designs are not as practical. Splitting her time between Berlin, Germany, and Stockholm, Sweden, Eleonor Bostrom is also an illustrator. This explains the style of her [ceramic sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virginia-sin) perfectly. They look like characters that would be found on Teletoon. Overall, Eleonor Bostrom is a young talent to watch. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Functional Ceramic Objects:** Creating functional ceramic objects that serve a larger purpose than decoration. - **Quirky Housewares:** Designing cute and quirky houseware objects with a unique appeal. - **Illustrative Sculptures:** Combining illustration and sculpture to create unique ceramic pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore the potential of functional ceramic objects that add a touch of uniqueness to living spaces. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can leverage quirky houseware objects to create novel, artistic experiences for consumers. - **Crafts and Hobby:** The crafts and hobby industry can capitalize on illustrative sculptures to inspire creativity and offer unique crafting supplies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Pet-Inspired Decor Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-pets.md) - [Minimal Sustainable Pet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biting-edge.md) - [Artful Elevated Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggy-bathroom-1.md) - [Adorable Ceramic Homeware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-homeware1.md) - [Aesthetic-Driven Dog Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karim-rashid-for-ubbi.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md) - [Artful Doghouse Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-for-dogs-exhibition.md) - [Artful Pet Bowl-Matching Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helen-levi.md) - [Artisanal Dog Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artisanal-dog-bowls.md)
