# Magical Fireplaces The Electrolux Fireplace Transforms Before Your Very Eyes By Meghan Young | Published 2009-10-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electrolux-fireplace References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/10/15/magical-transparent-fireplace/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Gallery/fireplace/318264) Sometimes designs don’t have to have much of a point and are simply innovative concepts; take the Electrolux Fireplace, for instance. A creation both hot and cool--figuratively and literally--it brings no new purpose to heating systems, it just has a unique gimmick. Made from a special form of ceramic, the Electrolux Fireplace turns transparent when heated and becomes opaque when cooled. Designed by Camillo Vanacore, it can be used indoors and outdoors. Watch the video, the transformation is pretty neat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Transparent Heating Systems:** Innovative heating systems that feature transparent and opaque properties offer unique gimmicks for customers. - **Dual-purpose Furniture:** Furniture that doubles as a functional and aesthetically pleasing product can innovate the household essentials market. - **Smart Home Decor:** Innovative decor that features smart properties can revolutionize the home decor industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Heating and Cooling:** Innovations in ceramic and heating technology can improve the heating and cooling industry offering unique products to consumers. - **Furniture:** A fusion between heating and furniture design can provide a novel way to approach furniture design and redefine the furniture industry. - **Home Decor:** Innovations in smart technology and design can create new opportunities for businesses in the home decor industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unusual Fireplace Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorchanging-fireplace-color-cones.md) - [Flatpack Virtual Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphene-radiator.md) - [Cooking-Friendly Outdoor Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regg-surprise.md) - [Eco-Friendly Bioethanol Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glammfire-contour.md) - [Mixed-Material Tabletop Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brasscene-harmony-flame-fireplace.md) - [Portable Cylindrical Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecosmart-fire-pillar-3t.md) - [Innovative Fireplace Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fireplace-designs.md) - [Convenient Personal Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-fireplace1.md) - [Communal Fireplace Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-coffee-table.md)
