SoCalGas — also known as the Southern California Gas Company — has incorporated new [Ford](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ford-etransit-custom) [E-Transit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winnebago-erv2) electric vans into its fleet as part of its ASPIRE 2045 sustainability initiative. This plan will see the company convert half of its on-road vehicles to alternative fuels by 2025 and achieve a completely zero-emissions fleet by 2035. The recent addition of these 21-battery electric vans marks the company’s first step towards integrating electric vehicles into its operations.

By the end of 2023, 38% of SoCalGas’ fleet operated on low- and zero-emission energy sources, including 700 service pickup trucks using renewable natural gas and 50 hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. The company is also working with Ford and the [Department of Energy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/temporary-driving-licenses) to develop a hydrogen fuel cell prototype for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, aiming for real-world testing by 2025. The light-duty electric vans have a range of up to 126 miles and are used for servicing industrial and commercial clients.
