# Kitchen Utensil Lighting The Electric Mixer Lamp is Made with a Retro Refurbished Mixer By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-01-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-mixer-lamp References: [dogtagdesigns](http://dogtagdesigns.com/collections/showcase/products/electric-mixer) A classic kitchen tool gets put to a completely new use with the Electric Mixer Lamp by Pip and Estella from Dog Tag Designs. Made with an actual electric mixer, this lamp has the same bulky shape and sturdy base. The top section still lifts up and down, letting the user change the angle of the light. An exposed bulb replaces the whisking attachment, creating an intriguing lighting solution that has a retro design, yet is completely modern. This lamp could be put on display as an [interesting sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp), or it could be used as an actual [desk lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engrid-desk-lamp). The Electric Mixer Lamp has a dog tag plaque, labeling it as a piece from the Dog Tag Designs collection. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Kitchen Utensil Repurposing:** Opportunity for repurposing kitchen utensils into innovative products, like the Electric Mixer Lamp. - **Retro-inspired Design:** Rise in popularity of retro-inspired designs in modern products, as seen in the Electric Mixer Lamp. - **Functional Sculpture:** Growing trend of combining functional and artistic elements in products, exemplified by the Electric Mixer Lamp. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting and Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for creating unique lighting solutions that blend style and function, inspired by the Electric Mixer Lamp. - **Upcycling and Sustainable Design:** Growing industry focused on repurposing materials and transforming them into eco-friendly products, similar to the Electric Mixer Lamp. - **Artistic Furnishings:** Opportunity for artists, designers, and furniture makers to create functional sculptures that add a unique touch to interior spaces, like the Electric Mixer Lamp. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pencil Shaving-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharpener-lampshades.md) - [Dripping Faucet-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-light-fixture.md) - [Stylish Retro Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joe-colombo.md) - [Ice Cream-Resembling Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-serve-lamp.md) - [50s-Style Light Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighting-speaker.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Oversized Pen Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bic-lamp.md) - [Sustainable Kitchen Mixers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remix.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md)
