Scientists at Tokyo University have invented a [jelly-like substance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrogel-spray) that consists of 95% water. Dubbed as 'elastic water,' the creation is considered to be useful in medicine for [mending tissue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tendon-repair).

Elastic water is obtained by adding two grams of clay and a small quantity of organic material into [plain water](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/echo-flask). Scientists will still study the substance through September 2010. If the team is successful in increasing elastic water's density then they can produce eco-friendly plastic materials, among other things.
