# Hollow Wooden Lighting The Elagone Lamp is Minimalist and Sculptural By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elagone-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/08/09/latent-lighting/) & [elomax-agency](http://elomax-agency.com/website/luminaires/elagone.html) The Elagone lamp takes on a stunning shape that is like a sculptural interpretation of a tree trunk. Tall and strong, it is made out of a [solid piece of oak](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-bean) that has been beautifully shaped into a hollowed out structure and fitted with an [ultra-thin LED strip line](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20) within its inner core. The light is diffused by the wood surrounding it, softly emitting from the vertical crack along the Elagone lamp's side as well as from the top. A versatile design, when laid down horizontally, the light will also escape from what was once its 'bottom.' Designed by Elomax Agency for manufacturer Drugeot Lab, the Elagone lamp will add an artistic touch to any living space or office. An overall [minimalist creation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mute-lamp), the Elagone lamp will also complement existing decor nicely. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wooden Lighting:** The trend towards wood as a core component in architectural lighting fixtures presents an opportunity for manufacturers to create unique and visually stunning products. - **Minimalist Design:** Minimalism continues to be a trend for modern lighting design and presents an opportunity for manufacturers to create products that combine simplicity with functionality. - **Nature-inspired Lighting:** Designers take inspiration from nature to create unique and environmentally friendly lighting fixtures that present an opportunity for manufacturers to differentiate their products from competitors. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can benefit from incorporating wooden lighting fixtures as a way to create a natural and homey atmosphere. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Lighting manufacturers can benefit from incorporating minimalist design and nature-inspired elements to their products to stay ahead of the competition. - **Sustainable Design:** The trend towards nature-inspired lighting fixtures presents an opportunity for sustainable design companies to create eco-friendly products that promote environmental awareness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Sustainable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo.md) - [Serene Wooden Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood.md) - [Raw Minimalist Pine Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoop-table-lamp.md) - [Design-Focused Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul.md) - [Pine Wood-Inspired Minimal Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakobsson.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Sculpted Wooden Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood-desk-lamp.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md) - [Twisting Timber Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-lasercut-wooden-lampshade.md)
