# Hide-and-Seek Tea Sets El Escondite by Leslie Montes is Playful, Space-Saving and Minimalist By Meghan Young | Published 2014-03-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-escondite References: [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/El-Escondite/8707789) & [lesliemontes](http://lesliemontes.com/) El Escondite is a minimalist tea set that plays a little game of hide and go seek. It does so by hiding away the [cup underneath the pot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cuptone-teacup). El Escondite comes complete with a cork tray, the cup rests face down in the middle in a designated spot and the pot is placed on top of both. When in use, the pot is removed and the tea cup flipped over on the tray. Designed by Leslie Montes, an industrial design student based in Lawrence, Kansas, the El Escondite tea set was created during her year abroad at IED Madrid in Spain. She writes, "In addition to being a [practical space-saver](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/non-sake-set) when it comes to storing your tea set, this product adds a playful touch to your morning cup of tea." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Tea Sets:** Designing tea sets with a minimalist approach can create innovative and space-saving solutions for tea enthusiasts. - **Hidden Cup Design:** Incorporating a hidden cup design in tea sets can add an element of surprise and interactive playfulness to the tea-drinking experience. - **Space-saving Storage Solutions:** Developing tea sets that offer efficient storage options can appeal to consumers who value practicality and organization. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can benefit from the trend of minimalist tea sets, as they can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing in modern homes. - **Hospitality:** Hotels, restaurants, and cafes can use tea sets with hidden cup designs to create a unique and memorable tea-drinking experience for their guests. - **Kitchenware:** Kitchenware companies can explore space-saving storage solutions in tea sets to cater to consumers who have limited storage space in their kitchens. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Portable Ceramic Tea Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hukou.md) - [Playful Teapot Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teapot-design1.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md) - [Connected Communicative Tea Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gptea-set.md) - [Playful Tea Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onetotea.md) - [Minimalist Capsule Tea Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dado-tea-machine.md) - [Teatime-Inspired Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-tea-set-toy.md) - [Fashion House Teapot Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loewe-teapots.md) - [Automated Extraction Teapots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reedesigned-teapot.md)
