# Multi-Legged Hexagonal Seating Beata Patasiute's EKSTramus Chair Rests in Different Positions By Meghan Young | Published 2012-01-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ekstramus-chair References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/ekstramus-chair-by-beata-patasiute/) & [patasiutebeata.wordpress](http://patasiutebeata.wordpress.com/) The EKSTramus Chair may not be the first piece of furniture to feature a slew of legs, but it is one of the few that actually has a true purpose for them. Instead of being added for aesthetics only, each leg supports the chair when it is resting at different angles, allowing for a [unique rocking motion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero) that accommodates a person's [various sitting positions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat). The EKSTramus Chair can specifically be placed in three positions (front, middle and back) and can easily be rotated to face any direction in a room. Designed by Beata Patasiute, a Vilnius Academy of Arts student based in Lithuania, the EKSTramus Chair has a honeycomb aesthetic that is at once [minimalist and bold](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omega-chair). Simple and comfortable, it is great for both homes and offices. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Seating:** There is a trend towards seating designs that can be adjusted to accommodate various sitting positions, which presents opportunities for the development of modular furniture systems. - **Multi-position Rocking Chairs:** With an increasing demand for more ergonomic seating, there is an opportunity for ergonomic rocking chair designs that can be adjusted to multiple positions. - **Honeycomb Aesthetics:** The honeycomb aesthetic of the EKSTramus Chair is unique and eye-catching, which presents opportunities for designers to explore the use of geometric shapes in furniture design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore the use of modular designs and innovative materials to create seating solutions that can be adjusted to accommodate different sitting positions. - **Office Furniture:** As more people work from home, there is an opportunity for the development of ergonomic seating designs that can be adjusted to different positions for comfort and productivity. - **Interior Design:** With a growing interest in unique and customizable furniture, there is an opportunity for interior designers to incorporate modular and multi-position seating solutions into their projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Quirky Postmodern Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ebba-armchair.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Cross Legged Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sway-chair.md) - [One-Legged Structural Wooden Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md) - [Cross-Legged Wide Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lap-chair.md) - [Adjustable Position Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switch2-chair.md)
