# Colorful Stick Architecture The Ekoda Sugamo Shinkin Bank is Cheerful and Playful By Meghan Young | Published 2013-03-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ekoda-sugamo-shinkin-bank References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/03/07/sugamo-shinkin-bank-ekoda-branch-by-emmanelle-moureaux/) & [emmanuelle.jp](http://www.emmanuelle.jp/) Bright, open and cheerful, the design of the Ekoda Sugamo Shinkin Bank encapsulates the service of the branch beautifully. More than that, it inspires the feelings customers will want to walk out with after visiting the site to do their financial chores. The bank's motto is, "we take pleasure in serving happy customers," after all. Taking this to heart, designer Emmanelle Moureaux installed a series of [colourful 9 metre-tall sticks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-sculptures) both inside and outside of the Ekoda Sugamo Shinkin Bank to add a sense of playfulness to the area. These sticks reflect beautifully on the massive [floor-to-ceiling windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design), creating a shadowy rainbow effect that still lets a lot of natural light in. Complete with [equally colorful chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipnfry), the space will make anyone happy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Colorful Stick Architecture:** Opportunity for incorporating colorful design elements into architectural structures to create a playful and cheerful atmosphere. - **Shadowy Rainbow Effect:** Potential for using light and shadow to create a vibrant and visually captivating environment. - **Playful Interior Design:** Chance to incorporate whimsical and vibrant elements into interior design to enhance customer experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for architects to experiment with incorporating colorful and playful elements into their designs. - **Hospitality:** Potential for hotels and restaurants to create visually engaging spaces by utilizing light, shadow, and colorful design elements. - **Retail:** Opportunity for retailers to enhance customer experience by incorporating playful and vibrant design elements into their stores. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Office Building Rainbow Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-rainbow-office.md) - [Rejuvenated Former Bank Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/former-bank-building.md) - [Playful Contemporary Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-contemporary-office.md) - [Ultra-Playful Studio Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-workspace.md) - [Incredibly Colorful Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorful-office.md) - [Bright Colorful Workshop Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-sm.md) - [Dynamic Purple Bank Headquarters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nubank-2.md) - [Light-Filled Public Restrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivid-toilet-interior.md) - [Valley-Inspired Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitaoka-group-office.md)
