A Japanese company has developed a simple black and white e-ink display on items that is typically used for [Kindle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorsoft) readers.

This low resolution display has the ability to save battery life but also deliver vibrant colors. This company promises fantastic battery by emulating many of the tricks that e-ink displays employ. The newly-developed scattering layer makes it highly reflective and visible without the need for a backlight that can often consume battery life.

The unique Memory-In-[Pixel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inkreader)—or MIP—structure of these new LCDs allow them to display a static image indefinitely without the need for additional power to be generated. This new e-ink display can provide a decent viewing experience but will save your power in the long run after continuous use for most display screen products.
