# Functional Foldable Ledges Eeva Lithovius Helps You Stay Organized With Chic Makeshift Shelves By Susan Keefe | Published 2012-01-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eeva-lithovius References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/shelving-on-demand-little-modular-ledges-flip-up-down/) & [elsanomia.fi](http://www.elsanomia.fi/cms/) These exceedingly handy makeshift shelves are the work of designer Eeva Lithovius. These darling modular fold-down shelves provide any pad with a little extra storage space wherever you need it. The on-demand ledges provide the perfect place to set a new addition to your home before a proper place can be allotted or the ideal stage for your favorite show pieces. Eeva Lithovius looks at shelves as a "chaos meter." Once they become too crowded, you know you either have to update your shelving unit or bid farewell to a few knick knacks. With these stylish fold-down shelves, you can find a little extra space when your dwelling is at capacity and you lack the time to get organized. Once the space crisis is adverted, you can easily fold the now-empty shelves up and out of the way. The ultimate organizational solution for those who own small spaces and a whole lot of stuff, this shelving unit is truly designed for the way people actually live. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modular Fold-down Shelves:** Opportunity for creating innovative storage solutions in small spaces. - **On-demand Ledges:** Potential for convenient and temporary display surfaces for various items. - **Chic Makeshift Shelves:** Market for stylish and functional alternatives to traditional shelving units. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Integration of space-saving foldable shelves into home decor solutions. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to produce and market foldable ledges for space-constrained environments. - **Home Organization:** Demand for innovative products that help maximize storage capacity in small living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Adaptable Flat-Pack Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-pack-shelving.md) - [Modular Fold-Out Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-wooden-workstation.md) - [Fold-Away Sleek Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk.md) - [Folding Steel Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf.md) - [Progressive Storage Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-prt-collection.md) - [Space-Saving Foldable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-desk1.md)
