You will observe a contemporary Plumen light source that is certainly a product of the 21st century, yet it has been encased in a transparent glass globe to mimic the 19th century electrical device. Damien Urvoy's design playfully associates the glowing loops with an old filament, encasing them in a bulb. The base of the [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp) is a cylindrical wooden block that's partially covered by this clear cap as well; meanwhile, the cord of the fixture is coiled around spool-like indentation of the middle to store excess cable. This red wire adds a colorful and functionally adaptive feature to the Edison Light, bringing a [vintage gadget](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joe-colombo) up to date with for the modern interior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retro-modern Lighting:** Opportunity to create lighting fixtures that combine vintage design elements with modern technology. - **Transparent Encasement:** Opportunity to encase contemporary light sources in transparent globes for a nostalgic look. - **Functionally Adaptive Fixtures:** Opportunity to incorporate functional and adaptable features into lighting fixtures. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate retro-modern lighting fixtures into their designs. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Opportunity for lighting manufacturers to produce transparent encasements for contemporary light sources. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor retailers to offer functionally adaptive lighting fixtures with vintage-inspired designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vintage-Inspired Flashlight Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barebones-edison-light-stick.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Candle Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-candle-lamps.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Candle-Mimicking Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hymn.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Retro Vinyl Record-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gramophone-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md)
