# Marble-Patterned Wood Furniture The Ecume Collection by Ferreol Babin Underwent a Random Paint Job By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecume-collection References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/ECUME/7232335) & [ferreolbabin.fr](http://www.ferreolbabin.fr/) It wouldn't be surprising if a person mistook the Ecume Collection for using marble materials in a unique way as though to make the pieces look like wood furniture. In reality, the Ecume Collection is comprised of wood furniture that has undergone a random process of painting that gives it the illusion of a marble texture. Each piece in the Ecume Collection was designed, handmade and distributed by Ferréol Babin, a designer based in Reims, France. Fashioned out of planks of pine wood, each design is one-of-a-kind due to the way they are decorated. Currently, three pieces make up the Ecume Collection, each of which can double as a stool or side table, though the latter appears to be what they were made for. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Marble-patterned Furniture:** Innovative furniture designs can utilize a random paint job to create the illusion of premium marble material for a fraction of the cost. - **Handmade Furniture:** High-end furniture designs that are handmade and one-of-a-kind can be marketed for a premium price as a unique luxury item. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Furniture designs that are versatile and can serve multiple functions such as a stool or side table appeal to consumers looking for practical and space-saving solutions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can use unique painting techniques and materials to create visually stunning and functional home decor items for consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate handmade, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces into their projects to create a unique and personalized look for their clients. - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retail businesses can market multi-functional furniture designs as a practical and stylish solutions for consumers with limited space and budget. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper Mable-Made Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bentley-home.md) - [Textured Pine Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crayon-pine.md) - [Ultra-Chic Marble Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abc-stone.md) - [Marble Fragment Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miscellaneous-side-table.md) - [Elegant Glass Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebbles-collection.md) - [Steel Hybrid Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloc-studios.md) - [Marbled Globally-Sourced Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/five-x-seven.md) - [Cork Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guillaume-delvigne.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md)
