# Glowing Tissue Boxes Yuhan Zhang's EcoLife Box Acts Like a Futuristic Nightlight By Meghan Young | Published 2011-05-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecolife-box References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2011/05/27/ecolife-box-is-like-a-nightlight-for-tissues/) & [kaikosha.co.jp](http://www.kaikosha.co.jp/FS-APL/FS-Form/form.cgi?Code=tissue) Although the film phenomenon known as 'Tron: Legacy' hit the movie scene last year, people still have not gotten over the insane outfits and graphics used; case in point, the EcoLife Box. I can easily see Jeff Bridges' character, Kevin Flynn, reaching over to get a tissue out of this [futuristic tissue box](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flutterbox) when he is reunited with his long-lost son Sam Flynn, played by Garrett Hedlund. Made out of transparent acrylic, the EcoLife Box rests on a an electroluminescent sheet, which, thanks to internal reflection, gives the edges a [Tron-like glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ddbrand-circuit-board). Even though the EcoLife Box looks really cool, only the most die-hard 'Tron: Legacy' fan would dish out ¥9,900 (about $120) for their own box. Of course, it could double as a [nightlight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Electroluminescent Products:** The use of electroluminescent technology in everyday products is a trend that offers opportunities for creating innovative and visually striking designs. - **Futuristic Home Accessories:** The popularity of futuristic aesthetics in design opens up a trend for creating unique and visually appealing home accessories that showcase modern technology. - **Nostalgic Design Mash-ups:** Combining elements of iconic films or cultural references with everyday objects creates a trend of nostalgic design mash-ups that appeal to fans and collectors. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can explore opportunities in incorporating electroluminescent technology into their products to enhance visual appeal and product differentiation. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can capitalize on the trend of futuristic aesthetics by designing and manufacturing innovative and visually striking home accessories that cater to the modern consumer. - **Pop Culture Merchandise:** The pop culture merchandise industry can tap into the trend of nostalgic design mash-ups to create unique and collectible items that resonate with fans of iconic films or cultural references. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rice Straw Tissue Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/third-size-tissue-box.md) - [Stylish Tissue Box Covers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tissue-box-cover.md) - [Power Strip Illuminated Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbox-power-strip.md) - [Shadow-Inspired Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series.md) - [Quirky Trinket Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mystic-box.md) - [Colourful Ambient Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ambient-lamp-design.md) - [Colorful Cubic Smart Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neon-crystal.md) - [Remote-Holding Streaming Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-art-tv-box.md) - [Eco-Friendly Organized Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tronco.md)
