With help from Camille Finefrock, the architecture firm converted an old pencil factory in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York. The multi-purpose establishment has 29,000 square feet which now includes Kickstarter HQ, as well as a theater, library, green roof and gallery. The workspace interior and landscaping focuses on the green theme and eco-friendly office concept. The 8,500 square foot green roof is a key feature for the Kickstarter employees as it provides them with a garden to relax in. A central courtyard made out of glass also exists, which gives different levels access to natural light while also offering a view of the surrounding greenery. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Design:** Creating sustainable workspaces that prioritize environmental consciousness and green initiatives, such as incorporating green roofs and energy-efficient features. - **Multipurpose Workspaces:** Designing flexible office spaces that serve multiple functions, providing employees with amenities like theaters, libraries, and galleries. - **Biophilic Design:** Integrating elements of nature into office spaces to improve employee well-being and productivity, such as green roofs, natural light, and views of greenery. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can explore innovative ways to incorporate eco-friendly elements and multipurpose features in commercial buildings. - **Sustainable Construction:** Construction companies can specialize in creating sustainable, energy-efficient workspaces with green roofs and other eco-friendly features. - **Workspace Furnishings and Decor:** Furniture and decor companies can provide solutions that align with biophilic design principles, offering products that integrate nature into office spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Urban Roofscape Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/central-yards.md) - [Pier-Side Dynamic Office Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-hq.md) - [Plant-Centric Dynamic Office Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-of-edyn.md) - [Greenhouse Office Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-for-roundtable.md) - [London-Based Garden Roofscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roof-garden.md) - [Greenery-Filled Skyscraper Terrarium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terrarium-cheongdam.md) - [Biophilic Workplace Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mangrove-garden.md) - [Hybrid London Townhouse Office](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spparc.md) - [Nature-Themed Modern Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natwest-office.md)
