# Sink-Dishwasher Hybrids Ahhaproject's Eco Automatic Simplifies Cleaning Dirty Dishes By Meghan Young | Published 2011-08-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eco-automatic References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1664798/simple-genius-a-kitchen-sink-that-doubles-as-a-dishwasher) & [ahhaproject](http://ahhaproject.com/) The Eco Automatic addresses one of the main drawbacks of a dishwasher -- the necessity of loading it before actually turning it on. Although some may scoff at this criticism since there couldn't possibly be another alternative, Eco Automatic offers just that. A sink and dishwasher in one, the Eco Automatic allows the user to simply place their dirty dishes into the sink for them to get a nice, thorough cleaning without you breaking a sweat. Designed by Ahhaproject, a German and Korean design studio, this [dishwasher-sink hybrid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-sink-system) relies heavily on a [clever rotating mechanism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whirlpool-spinload-rack). At the press of a button, a packed sink pivots 180 degrees, disappearing under the counter, while a second sink appears in its stead. A seamless routine is then set into place thanks to the Eco Automatic. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sink-dishwasher Hybrids:** Ahhaproject's Eco Automatic combines sink and dishwasher functionalities. - **Convenient Dishwashing:** The Eco Automatic simplifies the process of cleaning dirty dishes by eliminating the need to load a dishwasher. - **Rotating Mechanism Innovation:** The clever rotating mechanism in the Eco Automatic enables seamless transition between sink and dishwasher functionalities. ### Who This Affects Most - **Kitchen Appliances:** The Eco Automatic disrupts the traditional dishwasher market by offering a sink-dishwasher hybrid. - **Home Improvement:** The Eco Automatic provides a disruptive innovation opportunity for the home improvement industry by introducing a new way to clean dishes. - **Design and Manufacturing:** Ahhaproject's innovative sink-dishwasher hybrid showcases opportunities for design and manufacturing companies to create more efficient kitchen solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Countertop Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-countertop-dishwasher.md) - [Ergonomic Kitchen Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fotile-x20-max.md) - [Hyper-Fast Countertop Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-solo.md) - [Affordable Portable Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shabosh.md) - [Steam-Powered Dishwasher Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-steam-cleaner.md) - [Portable Handheld Dishwasher](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automated-portable-handheld-dishwasher.md) - [Entry-Level Countertop Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bugu-dishwasher.md) - [Small Space Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-dishwasher.md) - [Powerful Small-Space Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lissome-r1.md)
