Sleek, sophisticated and very futuristic, it could easily be mistaken for a chair, lamp or any other household item. At least they would be on the right track. This design is actually a telephone. Inspired by the past, Eclipse by Sebastien Sauvage is a re-interpretation of the [classic DECT phone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wifi-home-phone). Equipped with all of the digital technology that has become necessary in today's day and age, it also takes on a [sculptural form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doric-vacuum-cleaner) to appease the minimalist and artistic appreciation modern society currently holds. Although Eclipse by Sebastien Sauvage tackles a soon-to-be extinct piece of technology, it is designs like these that might keep it around just a little longer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Neo-retro Design:** Opportunity for designers to reimagine classic products with modern aesthetics. - **Functional Art:** Opportunity to create functional products that also serve as works of art. - **Multifunctional Devices:** Opportunity to combine classic devices with modern functionality for a new user experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity for electronics companies to create visually appealing products that appeal to modern tastes. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity to create functional decor pieces that serve multiple purposes in a household. - **Industrial Design:** Opportunity to mix classic design with modern technology for a new spin on familiar products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro-Futuristic Cellphone Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noka-7610-5g.md) - [Retro Phone-Inspired Label Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintage-phone-labeling.md) - [Retro Tech Speakerphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-phone.md) - [Nostalgic Flip Phone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-n90.md) - [Cubic Industrial Phone Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-phone-concept.md) - [Retro Tech Phone Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/native-union-pop-phone.md) - [Revamped Modern Phone Booths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-booth-1.md) - [Industrial Cellphone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-n90-x-nothing-concept.md) - [Sleek Modular Flip Phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easco.md)
