Instead of pressing the number buttons to change the channel, you'll use a laptop-like [touch pad to navigate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-id360-touchstone) to your channel selection on the screen. The revolutionary user interface on the EchoStar 922 utilizes movie poster graphics, [widget-based menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-interfaces), tiles, and cursor-like navigation, according to [CNN](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scar-kolmar-korea). The EchoStar 922's menu can also display RSS feeds for constant updates on stock quotes, sports scores, weather reports, and news headlines. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Numberless Remote Controls:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing remote controls that utilize touchpad navigation and graphic-based menus. - **Laptop-like Touchpad Navigation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating laptop-like touchpad navigation in user interfaces for electronic devices. - **Widget-based Menus:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating widget-based menus that provide easy access to various functionalities on electronic devices. ### Where This Applies - **Television Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Implementing touchpad navigation technology in television remote controls for improved user experience. - **Smart Home Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introducing laptop-like touchpad navigation in smart home control systems for intuitive use. - **Consumer Electronics Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating widget-based menus in electronic devices like smartphones and tablets to provide customizable user experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Universal Smart Remote Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-smart-remote-controller.md) - [Configurable Concave-Button Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-liza-remote.md) - [T-Shaped Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sightless-remote-control.md) - [Remote-Holding Streaming Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-art-tv-box.md) - [Gesture-Controlled Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spatial-touch.md) - [Omni-Control Smart Home Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linxura-smart-home-controller.md) - [Radio Wave-Powered Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-eco-remote.md) - [Motion-Sensing Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wechip-w1-air-mouse.md) - [Dedicated Smart Home Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-automation-control-pad.md)
