# Futuristic Flag Designs Reditt User 'thefrek' Presents Forward-Thinking Signs of Nationality By Sarah Moore | Published 2012-03-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earth-solar-flags-throughout-the-future References: [io9](http://io9.com/5895872/flag-designs-for-earth--the-solar-system-in-2020-and-beyond) Reditt user 'thefrek' designed a series of [futuristic flags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-flag) in a collection he calls 'Earth/Solar flags throughout the future.' The series features a prediction of how the solar system will change and realign over time. Each flag has a blue background with the planets in Earth's galaxy illustrated in white. The designer also created similar flags that document the sun's changing positions over time. The series designates where each planet, and the sun, will be up until 800 years into the future. The creator also made flags that showcase each individual planet in the solar system's evolution. Earth/Solar Flags Throughout the Future by thefrek also includes illustrations that incorporate Pluto, which has been recently declared to not be a planet. However, given that this is a [prediction into the future](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-of-the-future), perhaps he's on to something and Pluto will one day join the realm of the planets again. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Futuristic Flag Trends:** Innovative designs of national flags that could act as a symbol for countries in 22nd century. - **Solar System Change Predictions:** Using data and trends to predict how the solar system might change in the future. - **Planet Evolution Flags:** Flags showcasing each individual planet's past, current, and future evolution. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Design Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for graphic designers to create more nuanced and thought-provoking national flags for countries. - **Astronomy Industry:** Opportunity to use design to better visualize and understand the solar system's past, present, and future. - **Education Industry:** Using futuristic flag designs as teaching tools and an interactive way for children to learn about astronomy and the concept of time. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vintage-Inspired Eclipse Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-eclipse-poster.md) - [Retro Space-Themed Puzzled Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-carter.md) - [Home-Defining Artistic Flags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/everything-is-temporary.md) - [Galactic-Inspired Stationary Pins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planet-pins.md) - [Reimagined Inclusive Community Flags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pantone-1.md) - [Otherworldly Fashion Brand Billboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vollebak-mars-billboard.md) - [Artist-Designed Wool Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eike-konig.md) - [Festive Light Painting Techniques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-painting-1.md) - [Levitating Solar System Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quantum-solar-system.md)
