# Health-Tracking Farming Devices This Cow Ear Tag Keeps Tabs on Location and Activities By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2018-11-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ear-tag References: [newatlas](https://newatlas.com/ceres-tag-cattle/57318/) & [cerestag](http://www.cerestag.com/) This ear tag for cattle has been developed as a new solution for farmers that will offer advanced functionalities to ensure livestock are as healthy and accounted for as possible. The device was developed by the CSIRO national science agency in collaboration with [Ceres Tag](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mccain-foods-and-ceres-ai) and works by being affixed onto the cows ear and going to work [tracking their location and health](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virtual-fencing). This will allow farmers to detect problems before they get worse and keep an eye on their herd in an autonomous manner by getting automatic notifications when something occurs. The ear tag was successful tested at the [CSIRO Lansdown Research Station](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minedetection-system) on 100 cattle, which has prompted calls for smaller, lighter solutions to be developed that also track temperature and beyond.
