If you happened to notice the DVD Dead Drop while walking past it, would you stop to think about its purpose? I would be surprised if anyone might guess that this opening accepts [compact discs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tinyl-cover).

This is a [unique installation in New York](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourth-wall) by Aram Bartholl that invites passers-by to stick blank DVDs into it. The institution's staff turns them back out once more, having loaded digital art exhibitions onto them.

DVD Dead Drop is a playful and compelling exploration of what it means to share data. The project is related to the artist's [Dead Drops](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dead-drops) piece that consisted of loaded USB drives embedded into brick walls.
