# Retractable Pen Caps The Duramarker Includes its Cover to Prevent the Nib From Drying Up By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-12-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duramarker References: [red-dot.sg](http://www.red-dot.sg/en/online-exhibition/concept/?code=1062&y=2013&c=20&a=0) Many will be familiar with the untimely drying out of a marker due to the loss of its lid. The Duramarker is an adaptation of the [conventional casing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenith7-desk-pen) that works to incorporate the nib's cover as part of it. This makes it impossible for you to misplace it, and the [writing utensil](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/p3n-pen) should remain moist and inky, so long as you remember to close it properly. Hong Joonhyuk, Kang Jungmin, Woo Siwon, Jang Jusang and Son Yoon conceived interlocking U-shaped components that can be slid together and apart with ease. When they're apart, the tip of the scribbler is enclosed and complete with a [small silicone film](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bic-gelocity-gel-pens) to cover the tiny hole. Just retract this section to use the Duramarker. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retractable Marker Caps:** The Duramarker showcases an innovative retractable cap design to prevent marker drying and loss. - **Integrated Pen Casing:** The Duramarker incorporates the pen nib's cover into the casing, eliminating the need for a separate cap. - **Slideable Interlocking Components:** The Duramarker uses interlocking U-shaped components that can be easily slid together and apart for convenient use and storage. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Stationery:** The Duramarker's retractable cap design presents an opportunity for innovation in the stationery industry, improving marker usability and longevity. - **Writing Instruments:** The integrated pen casing concept of the Duramarker offers a disruptive innovation opportunity in the writing instruments industry, enhancing convenience and product design. - **Product Packaging:** The slideable interlocking components featured in the Duramarker create potential for disruptive innovation in product packaging design, providing customizable and compact solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Seamless Silicone Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-pen.md) - [Long-Lasting Compact Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanoink.md) - [Magnetic Toy-Like Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnetdabbles.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md) - [Three-in-One Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tp-pen.md) - [Everlasting Magnetic Tip Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aeon1.md) - [Pattern-Drawing Dual-Tip Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colored-curve-pens.md) - [Refill-Friendly Ruler Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/combined-ruler-and-pen.md) - [Clipping Pen Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clippen.md)
