# Beautifully Artful Chess Sets Rory Noble-Turner Designs the Engaging Dune Chess Set By Amy Duong | Published 2024-12-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-chess-set References: [rorynobleturner](https://www.rorynobleturner.com/) Rory Noble-Turner designs the Dune chess set and just as the name suggests, it is made from sand materials. Most chess sets are usually crated from wood, ivory, or plastic materials and the Dune set reflects the form of a sandcastle as the inspiration. The ridges of all of the pieces including the board itself are made to imitate how sand erodes rocks in a desert. Chess is much more than a game as it is a challenging ritual that connects players for centuries. Every single move is thought out and has a history that comes with it. Noble-Turner, who is an architect is captivated by these qualities and thought that a chessboard is a great way to explore the material.
