# Abandoned Shipwreck Graffiti Art The DuDug Project Transformed Steam Ship Into a Masterpiece By Kristina Marković | Published 2014-02-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dudug-project References: [environmentalgraffiti](http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/news-old-steamer-ship-transformed-work-art?image=8) & [dudug](http://www.dudug.co.uk/) The DuDug Project turned a rusting old abandoned steam ship into a giant street art masterpiece. The hulking steamer is located off the banks of the River Dee in north Wales. To passerby, the ship was an eyesore and another maritime relic. The DuDug Project is a group of street artists who produce colorful [political graffiti art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmatic-graffiti). The artists often depict animals as people and use political-satire in their art works. The DuDug Project essentially produced a massive [street art gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding) on the ship. The [colorful open-air gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craig-karl2) transformed the rusting ship into a beautiful sight. One of the graffiti art pieces features a giant Geisha with purple paint splattered over her eyes. The ship wreck also features amazing political pieces like monkeys' dressed in suits, a pig with a police cap on with bulging eyes and the words "greed, power, power, corruption" on its side. The Banksy-reminiscent graffiti art by the DuDug Project is an amazingly vibrant outdoor art display. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Abandoned Shipwreck Graffiti Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the potential of turning abandoned structures into outdoor art installations using graffiti. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Street Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with street artists to transform derelict spaces into vibrant outdoor galleries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [Digital Graffiti NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graffiti-wall-collection.md) - [Gas Rig Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/striking-art-installation.md) - [Tree-Integrated Mysterious Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-mural.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Whiskey-Themed Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upfest.md) - [Museum Street Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piranha-tank.md) - [Physically Looped Canal Boats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looptheloop-boat.md) - [Bubblegum Street Art Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding.md)
