Perhaps a fast beat keeps you moving quickly, and certain tracks distract you from fatigue and pain. For whatever reason you might prefer this setup, it can be detrimental to your safety outdoors. This innovative earphone concept helps you stay in-tune with your surroundings. Designed by Yeom Ilsoo, Lee Nari and Choi Eunji for [LG Electronics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-breeze), this 2013 Red Dot Design Award winner is a complete headset with [auxiliary earbuds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultra-open-earbuds-1). When you're out jogging, it's best if you play your audio through the [open sound system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jbl-sense-pro), enabling you to hear vehicles and pedestrians around you. On the train, however, the Dual-Mode Headphones are best switched into privacy mode, in which you wear the plugs. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Awareness-enhancing Headsets:** These headsets are designed to keep users aware of their surroundings while listening to music. - **Dual-mode Headphones:** The headphones can switch between open sound system mode for outdoor activities and privacy mode for indoor use. - **Innovative Earphone Concept:** The concept allows users to enjoy music while staying in-tune with their environment. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Electronics:** The electronics industry can explore the development of awareness-enhancing headphones to cater to safety-conscious consumers. - **Fitness & Sports:** The fitness and sports industry can leverage dual-mode headphones to enhance the outdoor exercise experience for active individuals. - **Transportation:** The transportation industry can integrate awareness-enhancing headsets in public transportation systems to promote passenger safety. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Helmet-Friendly Open Ear Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/detachable-open-ear-headphones.md) - [Lifestyle Open-Ear Earbuds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jbl-openear.md) - [Open-Style Air Conduction Earbuds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jbl-soundgear-sense.md) - [Hybrid Wearable Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neckphone-tri.md) - [Detachable Dual-Mode Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/streamline-hybrid-earphones.md) - [Scenic Awareness Audiophile Earbuds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maxell-ows-pro.md) - [Hybrid Overear Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oscene-ear.md) - [Skeletal Open-Style Earphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nwm-one-openear-headphones.md) - [Industrial Open-Ear Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nothing-ear-open.md)
