This unique sitting surface is a [hybrid spin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pony) on the [backless chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair), integrating an interactive feature to make resting rhythmic. Instead of a slab for a surface, the Drumstool has a hollow cylinder for a seat, propped up by four tall legs and many crisscrossing braces to keep the pieces together. This rounded top can be leaned on in one direction and straddled in the other; either way, it exposes its snare on the end, inviting the sitter to thump away to his own beat. Items like Adrian Jimenez Escarfullery's drum stool typify a growing contemporary interest in making [everyday objects more engaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/girard-stool). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Furniture:** Creating furniture with interactive features to enhance user engagement. - **Hybrid Design:** Blending different concepts or functionalities into one product to create innovative designs. - **Everyday Object Transformation:** Transforming ordinary objects into unique and engaging experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Exploring new ways to incorporate interactive features into furniture designs. - **Musical Instruments:** Incorporating innovative designs into musical instruments, such as drum stools with interactive features. - **Product Design:** Applying hybrid design concepts in everyday product designs to enhance user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Musician-Friendly Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/throne-x.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Pouffe Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero.md) - [Functional Decorative Rocking Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rool-stool.md) - [Colorful Dual-Purpose Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/s1-stool.md) - [Active Sitting Cork Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ylin-stool.md) - [Perforated Steel Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stamping-chair.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md) - [Cultural Heritage-Inspired Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stool-design1.md) - [Visibly Undulating Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concave-stool.md)
