# Drone Detector Technology The Start-Up DroneShield Monitors and Warns of Approaching Drones By Charlotte Joyce Kidd | Published 2015-09-01 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drone-detector References: [brinknews](http://www.brinknews.com/anti-drone-technology-emerges-to-thwart-potential-threats/) & [droneshield](https://www.droneshield.com/) After a drone evaded security to covertly drop marijuana, heroin and tobacco into an Ohio prison yard, a drone detector may no longer sound like an extreme piece of technology -- more like a necessary piece of equipment for any security system. DroneShield is a startup company that builds a drone detector for use in airports, prisons, commercial venues like stadiums and arenas, government buildings and even personal protection of important political figures or company executives. The drone detector's sensor can even alert users to the presence of drones that slip past traditional radar and radio-frequency monitors. Drones are increasingly becoming part of everyday life, with commercial ventures like [Amazon's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microsmall-drone) drone delivery service being developed for faster, more efficient customer service. Drones are bringing a lot of benefits to our world, and with services like the DroneShield drone detector, we can integrate them into society with minimal impact. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Drone Detection Technology:** Detecting drones in restricted areas require more sophisticated technology to ensure safety. - **Surveillance and Security Industry:** The surveillance and security industry will see a demand for drone detection technologies to enhance security and prevent potential threats. - **Counter-drone Solutions:** The development of counter-drone solutions is necessary to mitigate risks and protect against unauthorized drone activity. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Security Industry:** DroneShield's drone detectors can be used in prisons, airports, government buildings, and other commercial venues to improve security measures. - **Commercial Delivery Industry:** The use of drone detectors can provide safety and security to commercial drone delivery services, making it more appealing to consumers. - **Events Industry:** Drone detectors can be implemented in stadiums and arenas during events to prevent unauthorized drones from entering restricted airspace. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Drone-Intercepting Quadcopters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drone-interceptor.md) - [Airport-Assisting Drone Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airport-drone-system.md) - [Laser-Controlled Military Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lasercontrolled-military-drone.md) - [Home Security Surveillance Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/always-home-cam.md) - [Drone-Compatible Smart Mailboxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-mailboxes.md) - [Extreme-Heat Firefighting Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firedrone-by-empa.md) - [Hidden Camera Detector Keychains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-hidden-camera-detector.md) - [Natural Environment-Analyzing Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edrone.md) - [Rounded Bi-Rotor Ducted Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleo-dronut-x1.md)
