[Jaguar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what3words-partnership) [Land Rover](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-electric-suv) is now launching a large-scale Autonomous All-Terrain Driving research project that aims to take self-driving cars off the road and make them suitable for tackling any kind of environment.

Some of the systems that will be tested include one that prevents low-speed rear end collisions, notifies of approaching emergency vehicles and detects road construction and suggests detour routes. One of the most impressive features that will be tested during this [autonomous driving research project](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/autonomous-driving-system) includes one that will allow cars to "talk" to one another as a way to warn other drivers about upcoming obstacles and road conditions.

While there's now a large focus on getting autonomous cars road-ready, Land Rover is one of few companies that's looking to take self-driving cars off-road.
