The smart device by KOOWHO makes use of Bluetooth technology and syncs to an [accompanying app](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soberly). To use after drinking, the bike lock has a user breathe into the [breathalyzer lock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drunk-driving-detection) and wait for the assessment from the app. Even if a user is drunk beyond the point of being able to safely get home, the app will unlock the bike, but warns that a user should walk their bike home rather than ride it. As an added precaution, the [smart bike lock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desloc-b200) also has the ability to send an alert to a pre-registered person, so that they will be automatically notified if a biker has had a few too many drinks, making it easy to arrange a pickup for a drunken friend or loved one. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bluetooth Breathalyzer Locks:** Opportunity to create smart locks with breathalyzer technology that can be synced to a mobile app for various vehicle types. - **Smart Alcohol Monitoring Devices:** Potential for innovative devices that monitor alcohol levels to prevent impaired operation of vehicles and promote safety. - **Alert Systems for Drunken Individuals:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to develop alert systems that notify pre-registered contacts when someone is intoxicated and may require assistance. ### Who This Affects Most - **Automotive:** Innovative solutions can be explored to integrate alcohol monitoring devices into car locks or ignition systems to prevent drunk driving. - **Cycling:** The development of alcohol breathalyzer locks for bikes can revolutionize safety measures in the cycling industry and promote responsible riding. - **Security and Safety:** Opportunity to create advanced alert systems and smart locks that address safety concerns related to alcohol intoxication and impaired operation of vehicles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Discreet Connected Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laas-olock.md) - [Impaired Judgment Phone Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drunk-mode-locker.md) - [Three-in-One Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-bike-lock.md) - [Helmet-Friendly Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abus-combiflex-travelguard.md) - [Real-Time Monitoring Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elios-crossover-lock.md) - [Connected Chain Link Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linka-lasso.md) - [Slap-Band-Inspired Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slapstick-smart-bicycle-lock.md) - [Workplace-Focused Alcohol Breathalyzers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alcohol-breathalyzers.md) - [Anti-Theft eBike Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bosch-battery-lock.md)
