The newest breakthrough has been a [paper, which can filter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-water-filter-pitcher) upto 99.9% of the impurities and also kills out germs for diseases like E.Coli, Typhoid and Cholera. DDB, the pro-bono agency for Water is Life, used this invention to help design the Drinkable Book. The Drinkable Book is an educational book, which provided information about necessity for clean water (something we take for granted in the developed world!), and its paper can be used as a [filter to purify water](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-water-filtration-system). The Drinkable Book has 20 pages, with each filter providing for 30 days of clean water. Water is Life and DDB are planning to send out the Drinkable Book with teams of people to Africa, China and India, and teach people about clean water sources, as well as give them these books to help them get clean water. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Good](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialgood) > [Charity](https://www.trendhunter.com/charity) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Clean Water Solutions:** The development of paper that can filter impurities and kill germs presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in providing accessible clean water solutions. - **Educational Tools:** The integration of knowledge and practical applications in the Drinkable Book showcases the potential for disruptive innovation in educational tools that also address real-world challenges. - **Sustainable Filtration:** The use of a book's pages as water filters highlights the potential for disruptive innovation in sustainable filtration methods. ### Who This Affects Most - **Water Purification:** The clean water solutions offered by the Drinkable Book can disrupt the water purification industry by providing a cost-effective and portable filtration method. - **Education:** The integration of educational content in innovative products like the Drinkable Book can disrupt the education industry by combining learning with practical applications. - **Publishing:** The incorporation of filtration capabilities in books presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the publishing industry, merging information dissemination with tangible benefits. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Water Purifier Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladislamp-disinfection.md) - [Low-Cost Water Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edrop-water-purifier.md) - [3D-Printed Water Filtration Caps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/filter-caps.md) - [Miniature Water Filtration Straws](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peak-solo.md) - [Stackable Electricity-Free Water Filters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electricityfree-water-filter.md) - [Dual Filtration Tumblers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-filter-tumbler.md) - [Personal Water Filtering Straws](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifestraw.md) - [Sustainable At-Home Filters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compostable-water-filters.md) - [Five-in-One Water Filter Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitaloop-water-filtration-bottle.md)
