# Slanted Stone Furnishings The Drift Table Appears Askew with Its Inclining Supportive Planes By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-02-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drift-table References: [leibal](http://leibal.com/furniture/drift/) & [eric-degenhardt](http://www.eric-degenhardt.com) One of the most interesting things about the [Drift Table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meadow-exhibition) its unexpected style. The use of a such fine material as this [Carrara](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solid-table-light) marble might remind you of the beautifully balanced and elegantly symmetrical sculptures and structures of ancient Greece and Rome. While this side table is certainly weighted evenly, it provides the strong illusion that it is about to tip over. Eric Degenhardt's design comprises two striking stone slabs that rise almost perpendicular to the floor but maintain a noticeable incline. They come together at their edges to form a pitched corner and hold a flat and level panel of the divine gray-veined rock on top. Manufactured pristinely by [BÖWER](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uxbridge-bower), the Drift Table would be a dynamic addition to a contemporary room, acting as an intriguing trompe-d'oeuil, depending on its orientation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 97% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Slanted Stone Furnishings:** Opportunity for furniture designers to create unique and visually striking pieces that challenge traditional design norms. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to create unique and visually striking pieces that challenge traditional design norms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Stone Table Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-black.md) - [Terrazzo Side Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-side-table.md) - [Marble Fragment Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miscellaneous-side-table.md) - [Hovering Illusion Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stilk.md) - [Statuesque Marble Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mawe-low-coffee-table.md) - [Intersecting Two-Part Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shaolin-side-table.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Sculpture-Like Geometric Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skim-coffee-table.md)
