Instead of breaking a sweat over rearranging [heavy furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chameleon-furniture) (sweat is just so overrated), this [shifting shelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) does all the work for you. Designed by Christian Kim, the DreiX Balanced Shelf is comprised of [cubic cubbies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumba) that can rest horizontally, diagonally or even randomly. According to Kim, it achieves "balance in a room through an imbalance of the shelf." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Shape-shifting Furniture:** The trend of shape-shifting furniture allows for easy rearrangement and customization of living spaces. - **Modular Storage Solutions:** The trend of modular storage solutions provides flexibility in organizing and adapting storage spaces to changing needs. - **Balancing Design:** The trend of balancing design incorporates asymmetry and unconventional arrangements to create unique and visually appealing interiors. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore innovative ways to create adaptable and transformable furniture pieces for modern consumers. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage shape-shifting furniture and modular storage solutions to create versatile and personalized living spaces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can incorporate balancing design principles to offer unconventional and eye-catching decorative products that enhance interior aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Work-Life Balance Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/criteria-shelf.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Flexible Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving.md) - [Modular Decor Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halblang-blendend.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Customizable Storage Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelved-modular-furniture.md)
