# Irreverent iPad Illustrations Sarah Sitkin Gets Creative with the Draw Something App By Josh Triantafilou | Published 2012-05-26 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draw-something References: [lostateminor](http://www.lostateminor.com/2012/05/24/sarah-stitkin-creates-amazing-art-on-drawsomething/) & [sarahsitkin](http://www.sarahsitkin.com/) The Draw Something app is now available for download from [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scribble-journey-app). Most people use it to create [casual doodles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simple-drawing-ideas), yet Sarah Sitkin, a California-based photographer, shows that the app can be used as more than just a pastime. Her illustrations are quirky, irreverent and not necessarily safe for work. Still, they are entertaining and amusing. Sometimes it's nice to contemplate the melting, dripping shades of classic Monet paintings. Other times, it's fun to look at a cartoonish illustration of a blender full of guts and blood -- it's like the art equivalent of a cheesy horror movie. The off-the-cuff appeal of the Draw Something app is obvious. In a way, it is an updated version of the cocktail napkin. Still, not all cocktail napkin doodles are alike, and Sitkin's drawings are of an appreciably higher quality than most. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Multimedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/multimedia) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Quirky Ipad Illustrations:** Exploring the potential of the Draw Something app for creating unique and unconventional artwork. - **Artistic Expression on Mobile Apps:** Leveraging mobile drawing apps to showcase creativity and push the boundaries of traditional illustration techniques. - **Digital Doodles with a Twist:** Transforming mundane doodles into thought-provoking and edgy digital artworks using the Draw Something app. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for artists and designers to embrace digital platforms and experiment with new ways of creating and sharing artwork. - **Mobile App Development:** Advancements in mobile drawing apps can revolutionize the way artists, illustrators, and hobbyists express their creativity digitally. - **Entertainment and Media:** Exploring the integration of unconventional and edgy digital art forms in movies, animation, and other forms of visual media. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Doodling Mental Health Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scribble-journey-app.md) - [Digital AI-Generated Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picsart-1.md) - [AI Coloring Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/splat.md) - [Kids Drawing Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kids-coloring-drawing-book-app.md) - [AI Drawing Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sketch-it.md) - [AI-Powered Drawing game](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doodle-play.md) - [Professional Drawing Tablet Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astropad-slate.md) - [AI Kids Coloring Pages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/SPLAT-1.md) - [AI Art Tutors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simply-draw.md)
