The natural, [fluoride-free](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluoridefree-whitening-toothpaste) toothpastes help to reduce dependence on plastic and as Jeffrey Davis, CEO of Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, (makers of Dr. Sheffield's Naturals) says, "Although recyclable plastic tubes are certainly a more cost-effective option, plastic recycling has been a failure, and a recyclable plastic tube is less effective at preserving the quality of our product." Free from artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners, the natural charcoal toothpaste from Dr. Sheffield's will now appeal to not only ingredient-conscious consumers but also those who are environmentally conscious too. Over the next few months, the brand will be transitioning the rest of its certified cruelty-free and non-GMO toothpaste flavors to sustainable, fully recyclable tubes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 10% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Recyclable Packaging:** Packaging toothpaste and other personal care items in recyclable materials, such as aluminum, presents an opportunity for disrupting the packaging industry and reducing plastic waste. - **Natural Ingredients:** Offering natural, fluoride-free toothpaste free from artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners presents an innovative opportunity for disrupting the oral care industry and catering to ingredient-conscious consumers. - **Sustainability Initiatives:** Transitioning to fully recyclable packaging and sustainability initiatives creates opportunities for disrupting multiple industries, including personal care, healthcare, and environmental manufacturing. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Personal Care Industry:** Providing natural, recyclable toothpaste and personal care products presents an opportunity for disrupting the industry and catering to ingredient and environmentally conscious consumers. - **Environmental Manufacturing:** Manufacturing recyclable and sustainable packaging creates opportunities for disrupting the industry and reducing global plastic waste. - **Healthcare Industry:** Transitioning to sustainable and natural products presents opportunities for disrupting the healthcare industry and providing a more environmentally conscious approach to personal health. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recyclable Toothpaste Tubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colgate-toothpaste-tube.md) - [Eco-Conscious Charcoal Toothpastes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charcoal-toothpaste1.md) - [Reduced Plastic Toothpaste Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colgatepalmolive-1.md) - [Recyclable Toothpaste Pouches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toothpaste-pouch.md) - [Paper-Made Oral Care Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toothbrush-packaging.md) - [Plant-Powered Toothpaste Tabs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toothpaste-tab.md) - [Water-Saving Toothpaste Tabs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toothchews.md) - [Sustainable Reusable Toothpaste Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mimo.md) - [Natural Whitening Toothpastes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whiten-toothpaste.md)
