Crasset's latest creation is ingenious in that it can become a chair simply by [folding the seat backward](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair). Crasset's new design ensures that students will never have to choose between furniture and food again. The Double Side has a simple design that consists of a [wooden base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slide-table-1) with some felt lining the seat. While it may not win any beauty contests, Matali Crasset's [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitter-chair) has a chance to be a huge hit thanks to its simple and highly functional design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Convertible Furniture:** The Double Side chair's ability to transform from a chair to a desk demonstrates a trend towards flexible and adaptable furniture solutions. - **Minimalist Design:** Matali Crasset's simple and functional design showcases the growing trend of minimalist aesthetics in furniture and product design. - **Multifunctional Solutions:** The Double Side chair's ability to serve as both a chair and desk highlights the increasing demand for products that offer multiple practical uses. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The convertible furniture trend presents an opportunity for furniture manufacturers to create innovative and space-saving designs that cater to flexible living and working environments. - **Interior Design:** Designers specializing in minimalist and multifunctional interior design can leverage the growing interest in convertible furniture to offer creative and efficient solutions for small spaces and compact living arrangements. - **Education:** Schools and universities can explore the use of convertible furniture like the Double Side chair to optimize classroom layouts and provide students with versatile furniture options that enhance their learning experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Versatile Dynamic Armchair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dynamic-armchair.md) - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Mobile Desk Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/willow-side-table.md) - [Versatile Sideboard Desk Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hideaway-swing-desk.md) - [Fold-Away Sleek Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk.md) - [Reversable Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reverse.md) - [Dual-Position Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-design-concept.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md)
