# Paper Sailboat Taper Stands The Dot Boat Candleholder Brings a Playfulness to Pool Illumination By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dot-boat-candleholder References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/floating-boat-candleholders-dot/) & [designdot.it](http://www.designdot.it/boatENGH.html) The atmospheric effect of [candles floating on water](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripple-light) is absolutely lovely; the impact would prove to be even more charming with the use of these Dot Boat Candleholders. Made from ceramic, the delightful decoration has been designed based on the form of a [paper folding technique](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi) that comes to resemble a sailboat. Design Dot mimicked the origami hull of the little watercraft with the idea that the candle itself would act as the mainsail. A blue, green, yellow or white wax luminary could be placed inside of it, taking a pyramidal shape for stability. The Dot Boat Candleholders can be lit and gently set down on the surface of bathtubs, pools, ponds and lakes. They create a romantic ambiance with a flicker of youthful lightheartedness to strike a great mood. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sailing Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sail-light.md) - [Warm Ambient Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflet.md) - [Interestingly Shaped Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poise-candle-holder.md) - [Vertical Tea-Light Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tolo-tea-candle.md) - [Stone Cube Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qub-candlestick.md) - [Nautical-Inspired Warm LIghting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/booi.md) - [Paper-Made Origami Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanging-origami-lamp.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Candle Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-candle-lamps.md) - [Realistic Food Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pantlers-rations.md)
