These [dot art paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-by-squares) designed by New York-based artist Nathan Manire feature several people in dot paint format. It’s difficult to establish who most of the people are in these paintings, but it’s a fun game trying to figure out who’s who. A number of the dotted portraits are based on the photographs of Peter Zelewski.

Manire used several shades of [watercolor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistedition-jigsaw-puzzles) to construct the faces of the characters in his portraits. The dotted portraits up-close won’t actually look like the face of a person; to appreciate the work, a person will have to squint a little bit or back away from the paintings to see the faces clearly.
