# Covert Weight Displays The Doormat Scale Tells You Your Weight Even Before You Enter the Door By Shelby Lee Walsh | Published 2009-12-22 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doormat-scale References: [curiosite](http://www.curiosite.com/html/regalos-originales/enfelpudo_chivato.html) The Doormat Scale is probably one of the funniest gag gifts around. Like any [normal scale](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wyze-ultra-bodyscan), it weighs you when you step on it -- the only difference is that it weighs you before you even walk in the door and before you can even notice. Next time an overweight sales man comes knocking at your door and looks down, maybe the Doormat Scale will make him think twice about coming back or inspire him to get a gym membership. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Covert Weight Monitoring:** Develop discreet methods of measuring weight that provide data before it is noticed. - **Humorous Health Gadgets:** Create novelty health products that entertain while promoting wellness. - **Motivational Home Accessories:** Design items that encourage positive lifestyle changes through subtle reminders. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Fitness and Wellness:** Explore innovative products that integrate health and humor to appeal to a wide range of consumers. - **Home Decor:** Develop unique home accessories that serve a dual purpose of entertainment and motivation. - **Sales and Marketing:** Leverage covert weight displays as a creative marketing tool to engage customers and promote self-awareness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smart-Designed Body Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartdesigned-body-scale.md) - [Cartoon-Themed Smart Bath Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/issin.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Body Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skateboard-scale.md) - [Smart Home Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/actofit-smart-scale-home.md) - [Size-Inclusive Weight Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-wide-base-weight-scale.md) - [Multi-Use Smart Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scale-x.md) - [Multifunctional Home Smart Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wyze-scale-ultra.md) - [Order-Weighing Takeout Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-delivery-platform.md) - [High-Precision Sensor Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/household-smart-scale.md)
