# Industrial Door Handles Big-Game Designs Sleek Doorknobs and Handles By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-09-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/door-handles References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/09/23/big-game-tools-door-handles-vervloet/) & [big-game.ch](http://www.big-game.ch/) Commissioned by Vervloet, Swiss design studio Big-Game created a set of [door handles and knobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet-hardware). Titled 'Tools,' after its inspiration, the collection features items such as a pull handle, lever handle and coat pegs. Somehow, the collection translates the tactile quality of tools, such as pencils and wrenches, into a decorative piece for the home. Though the inspiration might not be immediately obvious, it is evident, upon closer inspection, in every piece. For instance, the lever handle and coat peg both feature a rounded convex edge, which, the designers explain, is "a detail we borrowed from pencils. We find this detail very sensual." The entire collection is fashioned from hand-polished brass, intended to feel comfortable in your grip, as well as reflect light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Decorative Door Handles:** The trend of transforming everyday items into decorative pieces for the home creates opportunities for designers to experiment with new forms and materials. - **Tactile-inspired Design:** The use of everyday tools as inspiration for design concepts creates opportunities for playful and unexpected designs. - **Hand-polished Brass Products:** The trend of shiny metal finishes creates opportunities for designers to experiment with finishes that reflect light and create interesting textures and patterns. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor and Design:** The home decor and design industry can leverage the trend of transforming everyday items into decorative pieces to create unique and playful pieces for the home. - **Hardware and Home Improvement:** The hardware and home improvement industry can incorporate tactile-inspired design into their product lines, creating playful and innovative door handles and knobs. - **Luxury Goods and Accessories:** The luxury goods and accessories industry can experiment with hand-polished brass finishes to create high-end products that are visually interesting and unique. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D-Printed Door Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ross-lovegroves-door-handles.md) - [Sculptural Door Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-door-handle.md) - [Elegant Wooden Pull Handles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ribbon-pull.md) - [Domed Door Knob Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/h03-knob-on-half-moon.md) - [Bold Wooden Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wide-guy-door-pull.md) - [Soft Brutalist Door Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-by-schlage.md) - [Sculptural Artful Hardware Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petra.md) - [Striped Wooden Handles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensible-streaker.md) - [Colorful Resin Faucet Handles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chromablock.md)
