# Disc-Stowed Two-Wheelers The Donut Folding Bicycle Reduces to the Shape of its Tires By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-06-21 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/donut-folding-bicycle References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/06/06/roll-up-bike/) The Donut Folding Bicycle project proves that the concept of a worthwhile retractable two-wheeler can be a reality. Sure, most [fold-up bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bromptons-g-line) can be effectively manipulated into more [compact objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirider-24-gb3), but few boast the superior close-packed quality of this design. You can actually carry Arvind M.'s contraption with you since the final product is neither too heavy nor too awkward. Several simple steps enable the user to tuck away his ride's wheels, pedals, seat and handlebars so that every component fits snugly within the [circular frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-diwheel) of the quirky little pushbike. One part that does protrude slightly is a small handle on the top of the Donut Folding Bicycle. This feature enables you to easily carry it to the bike path before opening it up, jumping on and taking off. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Compact Foldable Bikes:** The success of the Donut Folding Bicycle shows a trend towards compact, efficient, and easy-to-store foldable bicycles. - **Minimalist City Commuting:** The Donut Folding Bicycle appeals to the trend of minimalist city commuting, where people are looking for efficient and eco-friendly ways to move around without taking up much space. - **Innovative Components Integration:** The Donut Folding Bicycle showcases a trend of integrating various components of the bike into a minimalist design, creating exciting opportunities for innovation. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bicycles and Accessories:** The Donut Folding Bicycle points to a disruptive opportunity in the bicycles and accessories industry to create unique, compact, and easy-to-store designs for city dwellers and commuters. - **Public Transportation:** Efficient and compact foldable bicycles like the Donut Folding Bicycle can disrupt the public transportation industry by providing people with more flexibility and control over their daily commute. - **Urban Mobility:** The trend towards minimalist city commuting and innovative components integration creates an opportunity for new entrants to disrupt the urban mobility market by offering unique and efficient transportation solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Collapsible Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collapsible-bike.md) - [Adventurous Folding Bike Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatbike-change-adventure.md) - [Collapsible Belt-Driven Commuter Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/priority-folder.md) - [Flatpack Cyclist Safety Equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-helmet-concept.md) - [Miniature Foldable Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tatamel.md) - [Expandable Electric Cargo Trikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-folding-cargo-bike.md) - [Compact Foldable City Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-cycle.md) - [Collapsible Commuter E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collapsible-commuter-ebike.md) - [Shapeshifting Trunk-Friendly Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pxid-a1.md)
